You are about to embark on a relationship with us that doesn’t end when you complete your studies. When you graduate, you will automatically become a member of UCBeyond, the University College Birmingham Alumni Society. This gives you access to a society which has welcomed tens of thousands of people like you into a network that spans the globe. The aim of our society is to keep in touch with former students. A key benefit of UCBeyond is that you can use hired@UCB, our student and alumni support service for careers, employability and enterprise skills, for five years after graduation so that you can keep abreast of the opportunities in your chosen field. You will also have access to our careers and employability portal, hiredConnect. The portal gives you access to a multitude of careers and employability resources, information on UCBeyond, plus any online vacancies. You will even be able to book a one-to-one careers appointment with the hired@UCB team. So, wherever you end up and whatever you do, University College Birmingham will be with you for life. Award-winning Nitisha Patel now runs her own food consultancy and is a celebrated author, with her second cookbook – The Delicious Book of Dhal – published in 2019.

She joined University College Birmingham as a Culinary Arts Management student after being “blown away” by the facilities. Within months of graduating, she was working as head chef at leading housing and care provider Midland Heart, and went on to become the face of Tesco’s Indian Convenience Meal range. “The whole university experience proved to be really good for me. I wouldn’t have had half of the opportunities I’ve enjoyed without the help of the lecturers on my course.” GRADUATION Once all your hard work is done, it's time for you to graduate – and what better reason for a celebration! Each September, we have our graduation ceremonies in the prestigious Symphony Hall at the Birmingham International Convention Centre (ICC), a fitting place to mark the start of your next chapter.
