INTERNATIONAL TOURISM MANAGEMENT

BA (Hons)/FdA Accredited by the University of Birmingham

OVERVIEW By embarking upon a career in tourism, you can be part of an industry that has become a global phenomenon over the last 70 years. Many economies and businesses now rely on their ability to attract visitors, and international providers need to keep reinventing themselves in order to stay ahead of the curve in this evolving, uncertain and competitive environment. Whether you want to work in areas ranging from tour operations and destination management organisations to attractions or events organisations, our International Tourism Management course will give you the vital industry skills and attributes to realise your career aspirations. Studying at a recognised Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Centre of Excellence, you will learn how to analyse tourism trends and undertake industry projects in order to devise innovative, creative strategies to compete in the marketplace. Research shows 70% of employers are reluctant to recruit graduates without relevant work experience. One of the benefits of our course is the option of a four-year degree with a 48-week paid work placement, giving you a distinctive advantage in a competitive job market. You will also go on a variety of residential visits both in the UK and abroad, while our range of optional modules will enable you to specialise your studies to match your interests and career aims. Students studying the FdA will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BA (Hons).

University College Birmingham is well-known for its tourism courses due to the number of opportunities it offers for students. The residential trips were a real highlight for me – they are all closely linked to your modules, but you also still get time to explore the destinations fully, making some unforgettable memories.
