SUBJECT-SPECIFIC FACILITIES We have two purpose-built sports injury/massage clinics where our students offer a variety of services to professional athletes, students and members of the public. Our sports students also have exclusive use of our outstanding sports facilities at Moss House – including a cutting-edge gym and 35-metre indoor running track – as well as use of our Human Performance Laboratory featuring a state-of-the-art anti-gravity treadmill and further facilities at Avery Fields, which we share with leading Birmingham rugby club Bournville RFC. GRADUATE CAREERS Completing this course will enable you to pursue career opportunities within: • Sports/health and fitness clubs • The leisure industry • Local authorities and the healthcare sector • Sports injury clinics • Health farms • Self-employed sports therapy BSc (Hons) degree graduates who want to continue their studies can progress onto postgraduate level courses offered at University College Birmingham, the University of Birmingham or elsewhere.
Our sports therapy students benefit from a variety of placement opportunities to gain invaluable professional work experience. Past students have worked with the Scotland Rugby team, Aston Villa FC and Leicester Tigers Rugby Club, as well as West Midlands Fire Service and Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge PRACTICAL APPLICATION In addition to placements, a huge range of additional work opportunities are available across the UK to put your skills into practice, including major events such as the London Marathon, Velo Birmingham and Midlands and Ride Across Britain. You will also gain further practical experience treating clients in our sports injury clinics ENRICHMENT You will have the chance to go on a variety of industry trips, including St George’s Park, Therapy Expo (Birmingham NEC) and King’s College London/Wembley Stadium, while you will also benefit from our annual Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Conference SPECIALISE YOUR STUDIES You will be able to tailor your studies through a range of optional modules, as well as undertaking your own research project analysing an area of sports therapy that interests you
