OVERVIEW From working alongside professional footballers or treating sports injuries in a clinic, qualified sports therapists are in major demand across the sports, health and leisure industries. Our specialist Sports Therapy course combines academic learning with developing your practical sports therapy skills to an advanced level, opening up a wide range of career options when you graduate. Having developed your understanding of the therapist’s role, the science of sports therapy and massage techniques, you will have a vast array of opportunities to gain experience putting your training to the test in the real world. Our past students have gained prestigious placements with the Scottish Rugby Union at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and Six Nations, as well as working for a host of other prolific sports clubs, organisations and events. You will also have the chance to work in our cutting-edge sports facilities including our sports injury/massage clinics on campus. During your studies, you can gain further industry qualifications, such as ITEC Level 4 Sports Massage and NCFE Level 2 gym instructor qualifications, as well as First Aid and Advanced First Aid qualifications.* On completing the course, you will be qualified to join the industry’s professional body, The Society of Sports Therapists. Students studying the FdSc will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BSc (Hons).

I’ve wanted a career in sport for as long as I can remember. And, wow, what an unimaginable start to that career. It was an incredible opportunity to work alongside Scotland Rugby, especially during the World Cup in Japan, and I was very excited to get stuck in and help the team towards success. I mostly looked forward to developing as a sports therapist and being part of a worldwide event. I absolutely love to travel and learn about different cultures, so I was really excited to explore Japan. Kayleigh Jones Sports Therapy FdSc
