OVERVIEW Sport is big business. More people than ever before now understand the link between an active lifestyle and good health, and are prepared to spend their income and leisure time on sports-related activities. Our Sports Management course will give you the practical skills you need to make the most of business opportunities in this exciting sector, both at home and abroad. Sports Management offers a wide variety of employment opportunities, from working for national governing bodies or managing leisure facilities and sports events to sports coaching, sports marketing, PE teaching and health and fitness management. Whatever your career ambitions, this course will help you develop the management, analytical, communication and decision-making skills that are vital for success in this field. Our course will also give you the chance to put learning into practice through work opportunities and residential visits to projects in the UK and overseas, as well as offering you the option of a paid 48-week placement. You will also be supported throughout your studies by our variety of cutting-edge sports facilities, plus we are a higher education partner of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), providing you with a range of additional benefits including CIMSPA membership when you enrol. Students studying the FdA will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BA (Hons).
My time at University College Birmingham prepared me for my future by further opening my eyes to the dynamic world of business as it related to the international sports industry, as well as giving me key knowledge and theory to be used in the world of work. Completing my degree allowed me to develop my critical thinking and creativity, as well as my self- confidence.
