GRADUATE CAREERS Completing this degree will enable you to apply for a wide variety of roles that could lead to managerial positions. Roles and areas open to you include: • Public health practitioner/quality adviser • Health trainer • Health researcher • Health promotion adviser/information officer • Community development/outreach worker • Project worker – mental health/drugs/alcohol • Charity worker You could also continue your studies onto postgraduate level in areas such as teaching, social work, education and other practitioner- based qualifications such as youth work. • Housing support officer • Pathway care manager
As part of your final year, you will gain invaluable real-world experience on an eight-month work placement in a public health role within the private or public sector, with opportunities available at organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau, council public health units and various charities. You will also undertake another placement one day per week during your second year, as well as being encouraged to find voluntary roles to further develop your skills INDUSTRY APPROVED You will be taught practical and professional skills including managing activities and people in line with the requirements of the UK Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework, as well as the Public Health Practitioner Standards for Registration. Our course is also aligned with Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards and supports practitioner registration with the Faculty of Public Health SPECIALISE YOUR STUDIES You will be encouraged to tailor the topic of your assessments to cover the issues that interest you both nationally and internationally, supporting you to become a lifelong learner with the ability to respond to industry change and needs. You will also be supported by our dedicated employability team to find a work placement that mirrors your intended career path
You will be introduced to the spectrum of disease, injury and disability found across the world and learn how to critically approach the strategies used to prevent and manage this.
