OVERVIEW If you want to play a key part in helping people live long and healthy lives, our Public Health and Health Promotion course can set you on the way to a fulfilling career that will make a real difference to society. Developed in line with key professional industry standards and requirements, this degree will provide you with the tools, knowledge and attributes the industry needs to help deliver innovative and cost-effective projects with communities at their heart. You will learn about the sociology of health promotion, global health, leadership and management, as well as ‘wicked’ health promotion, including key topics such as obesity, smoking, diabetes and breastfeeding. Throughout the course, you can tailor your assessments to cover the issues that interest you most. To help kick-start your professional career, our course features an eight-month placement, not only giving you great experience before you graduate, but also enabling you to undertake a project or in-depth evaluation that will make a real difference to the people you are working with and will be sustainable even after you have finished your studies.

This degree brings together all the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective practitioner to facilitate change in society. The importance of public health and health promotion to support communities, groups and individuals to lead as healthy lives as possible, while taking into account poverty, socio-economic status and the social determinants of health, has never been more relevant than in today’s society.
