OVERVIEW Fitness is the biggest sector in the sports industry, offering extensive opportunities to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. If you have a passion for fitness and aspire to work in areas such as coaching or fitness training, our course will help you gain the advanced knowledge to work with a wide variety of clients in this dynamic and diverse industry. Sport and fitness encompasses professional, amateur and educational roles, and many areas of the industry require similar base knowledge in fields such as nutrition, anatomy and physiology. Our course allows you to investigate various facets of the fitness industry, tailoring each area to suit your interests and career aspirations, putting you in a great position to exploit employment opportunities when you graduate. You will have the chance to gain a number of further industry- accredited qualifications during your studies to help you stand out. Options include Level 2 Certificate Fitness Instructor (NCFE), Level 3 Personal Trainer (NCFE), Level 2 Award in Instructing Weight Lifting (British Weight Lifting) and Level 2 Award in Multi-skills Sports Coaching (1st4Sport).* You will also be supported throughout your course by our variety of cutting-edge sports facilities. Students studying the FdA will have the option of progressing onto the final year of the BA (Hons).

Employers are always really impressed by the specialised knowledge students on my course have about coaching, nutrition and fitness. I have realised that there are lots of people who don’t get anywhere near the amount of contact time I do, nor do they get any subsidies on the coaching and personal training qualifications that we get.
