WHY STUDY HERE? WORK PLACEMENTS To boost your employability when you graduate, you will go on placement one day per week throughout your course, with opportunities in a huge range of settings. Our past students have worked at a residential unit for children with autism, a centre for women with very premature babies, projects supporting children of asylum- seeking families, youth clubs and domestic violence units, as well as caring for the elderly and adults with mental illness ENRICHMENT Alongside your studies, you will have access to a considerable range of further training and qualifications. Training and industry networking opportunities are available covering areas such as first aid, manual handling and infection control, as well as contemporary health and social care issues such as coercive control, female genital mutilation and child sexual exploitation. You will also be able to complete an Award SPECIALISE YOUR STUDIES Our course offers you the chance to specialise in a number of areas relevant to your career ambitions. In addition to carrying out in-depth research on a subject of your choice, you will be able to choose from a range of optional modules covering themes such as substance misuse, mental wellbeing, criminology and offender management in Healthcare Leadership Foundations through the NHS Leadership Academy

GRADUATE CAREERS On successful completion of this course, you will have the skills and knowledge to work in a broad range of areas in the health and social care sector, operating within public, private and voluntary services. Potential careers open to you include: • Health and wellbeing advisor • Drug/recovery practitioner • Tenancy and housing officer • Reducing reoffending worker • Domestic violence caseworker • Mental health advocate/mentor • Family support worker • Disability project officer • Outreach development worker • Health promotion/education specialist BSc (Hons) graduates may also choose to continue their studies onto postgraduate level courses in areas such as social work, education, youth work and other practitioner- based qualifications.
